I have many ideas flowing through my mind when it comes to
my future classroom. One of them is having
a classroom blog. This would be a great
resource to have because it will keep my students and parents informed about
classroom events/news, homework, assignments, and a book list. I also want to take pictures of my students
during projects and/or activities and post online so students and parents can see
pictures in the classroom. I will also
have my contact information on the classroom blog so if homework help is needed
or parents need to contact me about a question or concern, I am just a click
away!
Keeping in contact with parents is so helpful when trying to create a classroom "community". I know as a teacher, and a parent, that I appreciate being informed about what is happening in class, but also realize how time consuming it can be. I think that blog posts would cut down on that time and make interaction more possible. Do you plan to have restrictions on your availability? Having parents able to contact you at any time sometimes makes them think that you should respond immediately. How would other teachers handle this?
ReplyDeleteI think setting up a classroom blog would be extremely beneficial. I remember a few classes ago setting up a class website and I felt like it was very time consuming and a times overwhelming. I feel like a blog would be an easy way to communicate with individuals. If the blog it updated regularly I feel like it would be a wonderful resource to incorporate into your teaching!
